Study Group Caterpillar

Studygroup/Arbeitsgemeinschaft Caterpillar The working group "Caterpillar" concerns itself since 1999 with the study of the larvae of weevils. The principal reason for this is the lack of information about the larval stages, which past publications indicate concerning the hostplant relationship and the larval stages of the Curculionoidea. Future contributions should consider biology and ecology of weevils and consequently also the larval stages more strongly. Further knowledge on the larval stages should be included also more strongly into taxonomical studies.

Any information about the developmental stages of weevils can be valuable for the working group. Even observations on the oviposition of imagines at possible hostplants or a find of larvae, pupae or young imagines might be the occasion for a short note. The coworkers of the study group "Caterpillar" ask therefore all interested weevil-experts for support of the project!

Short notes on the larvae of Curculionoidea and the results of research projects will be published in either the Weevil News (Internet-publication) or in the SNUDEBILLER (CD ROM) both edited by members of the CURCULIO-Institute.
