Theme:
Interactions with environment and dynamics of weevils (Coeloptera, Curculionidae) in Kragujevac basin
Contents:
153 pages of text, plus 32 tables, 72 figures (41 with graphics and histograms)
and 23 pages with 418 data of cited literatura.
Some results:
Over the course of several years (mainly
during the period 1987-1995), 4394 adult weevils were collected in 2158 instances
of specimen finding in 21 types of biotopes /habitats, at 25 localities in the
Kragujevac basin. In addition to this, in order to follow the seasonal dynamics
of adult weevils in the two most accessible kinds of biotopes (valley meadow
and oak woods), 1101 more specimens were collected in surveys conducted once a
month at two points in the Šumarice park during 1993-1994. There were 145
outings (or dates on which mature weevils were found, to be more precise) in
all. Belonging to 113 genera, 22 subfamilies and 4 families (Attelabidae,
Apionidae, Curculionidae, Rhynchophoridae),
355 species were identified. In regard to ecological characteristics, a typical
representative of the weevil fauna found in the Kragujevac basin can be
described as a subrecedent, accidental, transitional (not exclusively linked
with a single type of biotope) phanerognathic hortobiont with an oligophagous
spectrum of nutrition. Euryvalence is apparently favored. The reason for this
probably lies in the split-up and mixed nature of habitats.
