The photo was taken in May 2008 in the Russian Far East, Primorsky Kray, Chuguevsky Rayon, when looking for leaf-litter weevils.

Currently, I am working on plant-eating beetles from the Asia-Pacific Region posing a risk to Canadian plant resources. My research particularly focuses on leaf-litter and soil-dwelling weevils from the Asia-Pacific. This includes collecting specimens in the field using sifting and other techniques, followed by the lab work to investigate their morphology, taxonomy, phylogeny, biology, immature stages, insect-plant relationships and other evolutionary aspects and a wide variety of methods. I am always glad to discuss opportunities for collaborative research on phytophagous beetles, including joint projects, fieldwork, as well as occasional funds for a postdoctoral assignment at my lab.
