Main interests

Finnish Coleoptera, all families. The warming summers has brought new Curculionidae specimens to our fauna and the contact with CURCI-institute seemed like the obvious step to get help in determining some of them.

I have been collecting beetles since 1968 as a pure amateur thou with collecting trips all over Finland.

Nowadays I have spent a lot of time mapping beetle fauna on different biotopes and areas in Southern Finland, often together with the stuff from Turku University. Most of them concerned either oak groves or dry meadows and sandy shorelines on isles belonging to the South-Western Archipelago National Park during the years 1990-1996. Also inheritage landscapes were mapped. Further investigations were made during the 21th century in the northern part of the archipelago. Many mappings were done for the City of Turku for instance in Ruissalo and Katariinanlaakso oak groves.

During the summers 2002 to 2011 I have been mapping the beetle fauna on Åland isles for the Nåtö biological station and the County regime of Åland. The projects on Åland will continue.
